Trans Am cars from past and present will take to the 3-mile, 15- turn course April 9 and 10 as part of the local Shelby Club’s 40th anniversary. The venerable marque club has been putting on events at the Glenn County race park for 29 years featuring some of the most historic and sought-after Ford Mustangs, Shelby Cobras and a few others thrown in.
"Combining with the legendary TransAm series is a perfect 40th anniversary celebration" noted long-time Club official Scott Hiroshi. “We love the track at Thunderhill,” he said," and together with TransAm plan to make this one of our best events in the 29 year history of enjoying the excellent venue." Action will fill two days with anyone with a Mustang, Cobra or any performance street car welcome to join in. Sign ups are available through the Shelby Club by registering on MotorsportReg.
The TransAm series Western Division is expected to have about 30 cars made up mostly of the new T-2 class of Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers. Spectator gates will open at 9 am both days and close at 7 pm. Thunderhill is located seven miles west of the I-5 Freeway in Willows, CA. Free parking, hill-side seating and quality food service are all available. For Google Maps punch in 5250 Hwy 162 95988.
